| The TTNZ Board has recently approved the appointment of a new Administration
Officer and High Performance Director.
It is my pleasure to welcome Peter Chard to the role of Administration
Officer and Shane Warbrooke to the position of HP Director.
Both these men will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to their roles.
Peter comes to us from a background of systems design and project management, with a
strong base in fund raising and budget control. People management as well as a sound
knowledge of accounting software systems and IT will give Peter a great advantage in
running the TTNZ office. As he grows into the job a variety of aspects of the current
Executive Directors job will be devolved into the AOs purview, in the
expectation that we will be able to reduce the EDs position to part time with the
subsequent savings in operating costs assisting us to keep the budget for the office to a
minimum.
Peter will have a steep learning curve ahead of him as he comes to grips with the table
tennis community, but I know that all Associations will give him time and assistance to
settle in. We all understand what big shoes he has to fill with the departure from the job
by Averil Roberts, but again I would ask that we all give Peter the support that anyone
new to the position would need.
Shane is no stranger to any of us in the table tennis fraternity. His
work for the Auckland Association has been a significant factor in providing the platform
for the success of so many players wearing ATTA colours. We have no doubt that Shane will
bring his very thoughtful and analytical processes to the job of HP Director and will
continue the good work of such previous HPDs as John Stapleton, who wrote a very solid
foundation document for the role.
The HP Directors role is an important element in the planning and implementation of
our High Performance strategy. Shane will need the support of our Selectors, National
Coaches, Regional Coaches, Associations, and of course very importantly, our players to
achieve the best possible results for our HP programme. The Board is looking forward to
seeing a new standard of co-operation and understanding between all members involved in
the programme and with goals being set and met at every level.
Several positions which were advertised remain unfilled at present, but these are being
addressed currently and announcements of personnel appointments will be made as they
occur.
